From Patmos is a musical based on the life of the Apostle John. Told through flashbacks from his prison cell on the Island of Patmos, John recounts his journey from being known as the Son of Thunder to becoming the Apostle of Love. From tragedy, relationship, adventure, and passion, John's story affects the world and the individual heart. It is through his memories that the future is revealed.
Based in Kansas City, Missouri, Firelight Creative is a production company that exists to create truth-centered art to inspire, challenge, and encourage. We are thrilled to be bringing From Patmos back to the stage this Fall.

Casting From Patmos
We are looking for 20-26 actors of all ethnicities, male and female ages 14+. Most lead roles are singing roles.
CHARACTERS (in order of appearance): 14+M, 4F, 10 M/F
Old John - Prisoner on the Island of Patmos. Comes across as crazy, playful but is sincere and tender hearted. Appears as 70-80 years old. Vocal range G#2-A4
Riktor - Curious Roman soldier, completely loyal to Rome and his position in the Roman Guard. Age 20-35. Non-singing role.
Mary Mother of Jesus - Kind and humble but firm and persistent. Treats everyone like they are her child. Appears 20-25 then ages to 50-60. Vocal Range F3-E5
Satan - Cunning and manipulative. He sneaks in and out of scenes becoming the voice. Vocal Range E2-E4
Young Jesus - Confident, kind, relatable. Age 14-18. Vocal Range D3-G4
Mother Zebedee - Mother to James and John. Stern and confident. Takes charge when her boys act out. Age 30-50. Vocal Range B3-E4
Jesus - Compassionate and humble. Loves his friends and can laugh at a good joke. Can also be firm and confrontational. Age 30. Vocal Range F3-C5
John - Protagonist of the story. Young and hot tempered. Has a major emotional shift throughout the story into the leader of his friends and family. Vocal Range B2-A4
James - Older brother to John. Aggressive and protective. Loyal to Jesus and the mission to spread the Gospel. Vocal Range C3-D4
Mary - Middle child of the Bethany siblings. Always wanting to please. Not sure of her place or confidence. Vocal Range A3-E5
Martha - Eldest child of the Bethany siblings. Motherly, protective and independent. Vocal Range E4-E5
Lazarus - Youngest child of the Bethany siblings. Wild and carefree. Life of the party and comedic relief to stressful situations. Vocal Range G3-D4
Octavius - Roman soldier that becomes a follower of Jesus. Strategic, kind, cunning. Age 25-35. Vocal Range B2-C#4

How to Audition
VIDEO and IN-PERSON auditions available
- Video submissions are encouraged and will be accepted from July 4th to July 30th.
- In-Person auditions will take place July 31st from 10am-2pm at Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center, Overland Park, KS.
- DEADLINES for Video Submission will be July 30th at midnight.
- CALLBACKS will be August 7th, 9:00am-1:00pm by invitation only. They will be held at Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center.
